Chief (Dr.) Yeye Afolashade is an accomplished educationist, entrepreneur, business leader, and philanthropist, born over five decades ago in Kaduna, Northern Nigeria. She had her secondary education at Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin, and further studied at the Federal College of Education, Kabuga, Kano State. She later obtained a degree in Education Management from Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University). She began her career in education, where she impacted knowledge, discipline, and mentorship in many students who are now successful professionals.
Driven by her passion for early childhood development, she expanded into the production of educational aids and playground equipment. She is the Chairman/CEO of DLA Children Playground Equipment and Toys Limited, a company she has led for over two decades. Her organization partners with government bodies such as the Universal Basic Education Commission and State Universal Basic Education Boards to supply safe, quality learning and play materials to schools across Nigeria.
Yeye Afolashade is widely recognized as a disciplined business leader and serial entrepreneur with interests in amusement parks and food manufacturing. She is often referred to as the “Iron Lady” due to her strict standards and zero tolerance for low performance. Her work continues to reflect her commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainable development in education and business.
Over the years, she has received numerous awards and recognitions for her contributions to education, humanitarian service, and women empowerment. These include awards from the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN), Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Security Watch Africa, and other organizations. She has also been honored with chieftaincy titles and honorary doctorate degrees in recognition of her impact.
Beyond her professional achievements, Yeye Afolashade is deeply involved in philanthropy, mentoring, and community development. She supports the less privileged, empowers women and youths, and provides scholarships to deserving students. She serves as a role model for diligence and service to humanity and also plays an active role in advancing women’s development in Nigeria. In recognition of her commitment, she was appointed National Matron of the Association of Female Artisans, Nigeria in 2023, where she continues to promote empowerment, discipline, and excellence among women. She is happily married and blessed with children.
